RE: "Homeless in Seattle"... 5th wheel in shop, AGAIN!

We have had zero issues with our used Hitchhiker.
You should have a talk with Mike Mitchell owner of Nuwa.

RE: Mountaineer 345DBQ or Sandpiper 335QBQ?

I have been through the Western plant where The Sandpiper, Sierra and Wildcat trailers are built. The Sandpiper and Sierra trailers are identical excepts for colors etc. The Wildcat had a few upgraded standard features. I was favorably impressed with how they are built. They build them one at a time with ample glue and fasteners. I have also looked extensively at the Mountaineers and Montanas. I would choose the Mountaineer over the Sandpiper.
Everest and Challenger also makes some similar 1 1/2 bath models.
I gauge a new trailer based on looking at the same brand of used trailers. Well made trailers will still look good with time and use. Some trailers look worn and faded in a short time.

RE: Looking at Keystone 5er

We have owned two Keystone trailers - one was a Cougar. No problems with either one. If I were looking to buy a trailer in the Cougar price point - I would also look at Heartland Sundance, Jayco Eagle/Superlight and Crossroads Cruiser. Sometimes one trailer is as good as another - but one will stand out as your little home on wheels. Buy the one you "bond" with. grins

RE: B&W Companion over OEM liner??

I have the B&W Hitch over a heavy duty rubber bed mat. Works fine. I'm thinking the plastic liner is too flexible and would crush the plastic liner flat under the pressure of the hitch.

The Wranglers are original equipment. So 5 years old- but look perfect.

Truck Tires or Trailer Tires ? ?

Hi All,
My recently purchased used 2003 HHII 30 RLBG. The 5er has Goodyear Wrangler LT235/85R16E HT tires. The tires look to be in perfect condition. But, by the age of the tires - Maybe they should be replaced.
Why do some manufacturers use truck tires? Just curious??
Should I stay with the truck tires?
I priced the Michelin Rib tires at $1000 set - I read that the Michelins are good.
I am leery of the Import no-name tires that seem to fail.
Advice appreciated!

RE: 08 Chevy backup sensors

You can turn the sensors off at the dashboard. (below the radio)
On my Tahoe the sensors automatically shut off when you hitch the trailer to the truck.

Backup Sensor Recommendations (Parking Assist)

I just bought a new truck without the backup sensors. I have it in my Tahoe and can't backup without it. grins
Has anyone installed an aftermarket sensor (Parking Assist)?
Pricing?
Installation?
Thanks

RE: 2008 Chevrolet / GMC - Got lint ? Ebony cloth

The only other colors besides Ebony are Lt Titanium (very light grey - almost white) and "Cashmere" (lt tan color).
Leather is also available in the same three colors.
The LT2 version has a different fabric "Select Cloth" A woven type fabric not prone to collecting lint.

RE: Tear in Rubber Roof

I am in the same buying mode - considering the Bighorn and the Everest.I tore the roof of my former RV - I had it professionally patched immediately so no structure damage. I took a big hit on re-sale value. Complete roof replacement is going to be at least $4,000. I wouldn't buy coach with a patched and bubbled roof. There are many used fifth wheels on the market and if you look hard enough new ones for used prices.

Montana Floorplan Recommendations?

Hi All,
We are interested in the Montana FW line.
We like plan #'s 2980 and 3075.
Any pros or cons?
We also like the Everest lines.
I noticed that Montana has a much higher carrying capacity than the Everest line. Anything to look out for.
I am considering an order to Lakeshore because of the low price quotes.
Thanks for all the anticipated advice!

RE: Duramax 2500 or 3500?

Its interesting that the two trucks have nearly identical sticker prices. Even though the 3500 is a long bed.
My concern is the length of the 3500 truck in the crewcab longbed version. Both Dodge and Ford do make a 1 Ton shortbed. (I may have to reconsider those.)

RE: Duramax 2500 or 3500?

The Bighorn 3055 trailer I am considering is:
34'4" long
unloaded - 10,850
hitch - 2,060
GVWR - 14,000
Old Soldier - described the truck exactly.

Duramax 2500 or 3500?

Evidently GM does not make a 3500 shortbed crewcab truck.
I would prefer a shortbed crewcab. Will the 2500 truck be sufficient for a 11,000 lb 2000 lb hitch fifth wheel?
Thanks,

Heartland Bighorn 3055

I am thinking of buying a new Heartland Bighorn model 3055.
Questions:
The Bighorns appear to have an extra step to get in compared with say the Montana. If so does that mean the ceiling height is lower in the BH?
Looking at the specs the Bighorns is only 2 1/2 inches taller.
Is the skirting lower on the Bighorn? I am kinda confused when looking at the outside photos in the brochures.
I have my purchase decision narrowed down to a few fifth wheels model/brands. The Bighorn is at or near the top of my "short list"
How does Bighorn compare with these?
Montana
Everest
Cedar Creek
Cardinal
Thanks I really appreciate the information!
